Creola Hyter's Obituary
Creola Hyter, 87, of Chattanooga, passed away Wednesday, October 4, 2023, at her residence. She was born on June 26, 1936, in Catherine, Alabama. Creola graduated from RB Hudson High School in 1953. She later moved to Chattanooga, Tennessee. Creola retired from Alton Park/Dodson Avenue Health Center after 30 years of dedicated service. She was a faithful and dedicated member of Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church. She was a Trustee, President of the Choir, and President of the Youth Department. Creola enjoyed leading songs and reading church announcements. She had a forgiving heart and always loved to help in any way she could. Creola never made an enemy. She was loved by her family deeply. Creola loved her girls and her grandchildren. Her family will miss her deeply, but her spirit lives on. She is preceded in death by her father, Bill McMillian; mother, Rita Bell Banks McMillian; husband, Robert Earl Hyter; sister, Ester Craig; daughter, Yvonne Hyter; grandson, Michael Hyter. Survivors include her daughters, Suzie (Larry) Jennings, Sandra Tremble, Kathy Hyter, Jacqueline Hyter, and Roberta (Adrian) Ellis; grandchildren, April Ellis, Gregory Hyter, Robert (Britney Hyter II, Bernard (Deranda) Hyter, Jacreyce Johnson, Roycalyn Johnson, and Adrianna Ellis; 17 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Charles Hyter; special cousins, Barbara Walker, JoAnn Murphy, Jeraldine Moore all of Alabama; special friends, Louise D. O’Neal, and Lily Mae Smith; a host of other relatives and friends. Creola will lie-in-state on Friday, October 13, 2023, from 12:30-5 p.m. at Taylor Funeral Home. Funeral service on Saturday, October 14, 2023, at 12 noon in the chapel. Burial in Lakewood Memory Gardens, East.
