Couletta Townsend's Obituary
Coulette Rucker Townsend was born on February 3, 1951 in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Couletta transitioned at her residence on November 24, surrounded by her family. Among those who preceded her in death was her father, Mr. Roger Rucker; her mother, Mrs. Burnese Jones; brother, Joseph Rucker; sister, Marie Shropshire; grandparents, Roger McIntosh and Hattie Jaes. Couletta was a graduate of Riverside High School. She retired from Erlanger Hospital with more than 40 years. Couletta worked as an RN and loved working with her patients. She loved singing to her patients as she provided for their care. Couletta was a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church. She served faithfully at Fellowship as a deaconess and Minister of Music at Hamlett Chapel until she was no longer able to serve. Couletta was a very giving person and loved the Lord who was the head of her life. She leaves to cherish her memories a devoted and loving husband, Edmund Townsend; three children, Kenneth Wilson, Jr., Eric Wilson, and Horisa Trotter; 9 grandchildren, Jarvis, Kenneth, Matthew, Carlotta, Johnathan, Makayla, Jarneisha, Edward, and Donovan; 11 great-grandchildren; brothers, Charles Rucker and Paul Rucker; sisters, Jeanester Lenear, Diane (James) Headlee, Denise Harner, and Pauline Green; a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. Couletta will lie-in-state on Monday, December 9, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at Taylor Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel with Bishop W.C. Simpson, III as Eulogist. Burial in Highland Memorial Gardens.
