Cornelius McWhorter, Jr.'s Obituary
Cornelius “Moochie” McWhorter, Jr., 67, of Chattanooga, passed away Sunday, March 10, 2024, in a local hospital. He was a 1974 graduate of Howard High School. He served in the United States Army. Cornelius was a Car Salesman for over 40 years. He attended Silver Crest Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his mother, Carolyn McWhorter; and father, Cornelius McWhorter, Sr. Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Regina McWhorter; sons, Sean Anderson and Adrain Anderson, both of Chattanooga; daughters, Shanara Reid-Brinkley of California and April McWhorter of Chattanooga; 7 grandchildren, Ashya Anderson, Taisia Anderson, DeSean Anderson, Sade’ Anderson, Adrain Anderson, Mariyah Price, and Autumn Reid-Brinkley; brothers, Dennis McWhorter, Bobby McWhorter, both of Chattanooga, and brother/cousin, Dargin McWhorter, Jr.; sisters, Krystal A. McWhorter, Charlotte (Garrison) Martin, Cathy (Michael) Goldthreat, and Mary (Kenneth, Sr.) Cameron, all of Chattanooga; uncles, Sam McWhorter, Sr. and Dargin McWhorter, Sr., both of California; sisters-in-law, Karen Shoulders, Andrea Meadows, and Sheila (Shannon) Winston, all of Chattanooga; a host of nieces; nephews; cousins; other relatives and friends. Cornelius will lie-in-state on Monday, March 25, 2024, at 9 a.m. at Taylor Funeral Home. Graveside service will follow at 1:00 p.m. in Chattanooga National Cemetery with Pastor Randy Petersen giving words of comfort.
