Clark G. Barnette's Obituary
Clark Gable Barnette, 73, of Chattanooga, passed away Saturday, September 9, 2023, at his residence. He attended Riverside High School and McKenzie College. Clark was a member of Greater Faith Temple Missionary Baptist Church where he served on the Usher Board. He served in the United States Army. Clark retired from Moccasin Bend Mental Health Institute. He was preceded in death by his father, Harold Barnette; mother, Catherine Barnette; sisters, Patricia Williams, Doris Fugatt, and Lula Jones; brothers, Alton Barnette and Grover Barnette. Survivors include his sons, LaFrederick Thirkill of Chattanooga, Corey (Kim) Barnette of Washington, DC, Ricky (Kim) Garner of Mansfield, TX, and Jerome Bonner of Chattanooga; 6 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; sisters, Jennie Allen of Chattanooga, Janice Barnette-Brightwell, and Mary Fort, both of Athens, GA; lifelong friends, Linda Garner of Decatur, AL, Ida Snow and Mary Thirkill, both of Chattanooga; special friend, Cassandra Webb; a host of nieces; nephews; cousins; other relatives and friends. Clark will lie-in-state on Friday, September 22, 2023, at 9 a.m. at Taylor Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow at 12 noon in the chapel with Brother Eric Garner giving words of comfort. Burial in Chattanooga National Cemetery.
