Clarence Edward Saxton's Obituary
Clarence Edward “Sax” Saxton, 83, of Chattanooga, passed away Monday, January 9, 2023, at his residence. He was a 1959 graduate of Lakeside High School and furthered his education at Drake State Technical College and Chattanooga State Technical Community College. Clarence retired from Mueller Company and Sax Saxton Bump & Paint Shop. He was a member of Washington Hills United Methodist Church and president of United Methodist Men, along with singing in the church choir. Clarence was preceded in death by his mother, Christine Warren Saxton; father, Edward L. Saxton; devoted stepmother, Lorraine Saxton; and son, Gregory Saxton. Survivors include; his wife of 65 years, Delores Saxton; sons, Clarence (Damita) Adkins of Priceville, AL, Wendell Saxton of Chattanooga, TN, James Saxton of Pittsburg, PA, Ricky (Lawanda) Saxton of Grayson, GA, Ronald Saxton of Chattanooga, TN; daughters, Monica Smoot of Nashville, TN, Irish (Tony Ufere) Saxton of Marietta, GA, Debra Saxton of Chattanooga, TN, Bridget (Christopher) Mastin of Huntsville, AL, LaToya (Jemaine) Strickland of Powder Springs, GA; 26 grandchildren, 20 great-great grandchildren; sister, Sharon Burk; brother-in-law, Earl (Gladys) Matthews; a host of nieces; nephews; cousins; other relatives and friends. Pastor Terrell James will be the eulogist.
