Mr. Sledge was my fifth-grade teacher at Hardy Elementary in 1995. As a white kid transferring from a school in Soddy-Daisy, I felt immediately welcomed by him. My friends Raymond and Josh and I still fondly recount the stories from our time in his class. My deepest condolences to his son—whom we went to school with—and the rest of his family. He was a truly fantastic teacher. Rest in peace.
We lived across the street from Charles for many years. Charles was a kind, mannerable, and positive neighbor. He always remained uplifted. Charles never complained during his lengthy illness. I want to extend my heartfelt condolences to his son, Charles.
The smartest man I ever known. You will be truly missed. So many great memories. That's what I'm holding on to. And I know you are in a better place, in your mansion. I love you Uncle Charles. Until we meet again.
