Charles Maddox Sr.'s Obituary
Charles “Moe” Maddox, Sr., 76, of Chattanooga, passed away Thursday, December 28, 2023, in a local hospital. He attended Howard High School. He was a veteran of the United States Army. Charles was formerly employed by Special Transit Service (STS) as a Driver. He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church where he sang in the Men’s Choir. He was also a member of The Harmonizers. Charles was preceded in death by his mother, Martha Stokes (Marvin) Boykins; father, Franklin Maddox; ex-wives, Laverne Maddox, Jennifer Mines, Barbara Summerrow, and Dorothy Maddox. Survivors include his sons, Charles (Amanda) Maddox, Jr., Charles D. (Aretha) Maddox, Delaney M. (NaKeisha) Maddox, all of Chattanooga, and Maurice Crutchfield of Virginia; daughters, Cecelia D. (Cameron) Maddox and Tara Roberson, both of Chattanooga; 18 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; brothers, Marvin Boykins, James Boykins, both of Chattanooga, and Ray Maddox of Knoxville, TN; sisters, Frankie Kendricks of Chattanooga, Charlotte Brown, Mary Jones, both of Buffalo, NY, and Thelma Boykins of Chattanooga; a host of nieces; nephews; cousins; other relatives and friends. Charles will lie-in-state on Sunday, January 7, 2024, from 12:30-5:00 p.m. at Taylor Funeral Home. Funeral service will be on Monday, January 8, 2024, at 11 a.m. in the chapel with Pastor Steve Underwood as the eulogist. Burial in Chattanooga National Cemetery.
