Charles Hudson's Obituary
Charles “Uncle Charles” Lee Hudson, 63, of Chattanooga, passed away Thursday, August 24, 2023, at his residence. He was born on June 4, 1960, in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Charles was one of seven children and family was everything to him. He was educated in the Chattanooga Public Schools and was a Howard Hustlin’ Tiger. Charles was employed by Wheland Foundry for 16 years until the company closed in 2003. He was the owner of Fashions by D & C. He was a classic man and loved to dress. He was also employed by Detailxperts as a Manager until his health declined. Charles was a dedicated Deacon at Monumental Baptist Church where he was a member for 29 years. He loved his church. He started the Security Ministry, served on the Culinary Ministry, chaired the Bus Ministry, was a member of the Verbena Ministry, and the Sons of Elijah. Charles was preceded in death by his grandparents, Governor and Della Smith; mother, Alma Hudson; brothers, Gearld Smith, Jimmy Singleton and Clarence Singleton; and sister-in-law, LeShaun Kilgore. Survivors include his wife of 29 years, Dedra M. Hudson; sons, Charles C. Hudson, Charles “P. C.” Eddins, Jermarlerde “Red” Eddins, DeVante Hudson, and Grant Hudson; father, Robert Morgan; mother-in-law, Alice (Dana) Montgomery; sisters, Constance (Larry) Singleton and Sharon (Jeff) Jones; brother, Greg (Lola) Hudson; nieces and nephews, Pam Horton, William Murphy, Cynthia Smith, Satedra Burns Foster, Candice (Larry) Turner, Delnita (Garvin) Evans, RoShunda (David) Woods, Candice Bell, Kenshay Robinson, Shinise Menefee, Myesha Morgan, Tyesha Morgan, Schyular Caslin, Zyamere Favors, Brittany Bynum, Cortney (Curtis) Warner, Jasmine Hudson, Tameka Middlebrooks of Indianapolis Indiana, and Megan Smith of Chapel Hill, NC; sisters-in-law, LaDona Smith, Bobbie (James) Johnson, and Rena Parker; brother-in-law, Johnny (Mary) McClain; aunts and uncle, Sue Kilgore, LaTonya Kilgore, and Vinson Kilgore, Sr.; very special friends, Pastor Greg Odom, Robert Coleman, Keith Madison, Charles Bynum, Carlton Holloway, Richard Coleman, Bobby Moore, Johnny Woodley, Marcell Hawthorne, Bobby Goins, Eric Cross, Edward Sanders, and Finbar Andrews; caregivers, Schyular Caslin and Enoushall Kilgore; a host of nieces; nephews; cousins; other relatives and friends. Charles will lie-in-state on Saturday, September 2, 2023, at 10 a.m. at New Monumental Baptist Church. Funeral service will follow at 12 noon at the church with Dr. R. Gregory Odom as the eulogist. Burial on Tuesday, September 5, 2023, at 1 p.m. in Highland Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are by Taylor Funeral Home of Chattanooga, Inc.
