Charles G. Hammock's Obituary
Charles Gene Hammock, 84, of Chattanooga, passed away Thursday, September 28, 2023, in a local hospital. He graduated from Harrison High School in Buchanan, Georgia. Charles went on to attend Morehouse College. He retired from Chattanooga City Schools after many years of service. Charles was preceded in death by his parents, James and Mildred Hammock, Sr.; brother, James “Cisco” Frank Hammock, Jr.; and grandson, Kenneth Hammock, Jr. Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Eva Hammock; sons, Kenneth (Sandra) Hammock, Sr. and Anthony L. (Henrietta) Hammock, Sr.; daughters, Pamela Hammock (Patrick) Vasterling, LaTasha Hammock, and Kesha Hammock; grandchildren, Anthony Lebron Hammock, Jr., Bry’Anna Robinson of Birmingham, AL, Key’Ashia Foster, Tay’Veonn Bonds, Key’Andra “Bella” McKinney, Kyle Hammock, and JaWuan Hammock; great-grandchildren, DeVonta Hammock, Jaylen Hammock, Kaydance Hammock, and Tarrenz Birt; sister, Pearlie Mae Hubbard; aunt, Alice Poole; nephew, Terrance Traylor; special nephew, Sylvester Caslin; bonus son, Dexter Joshen; close friends, J.T. McDaniel, Wiley Simmons, John Muckle, and Claymon Fairbanks; students, Carl Taylor, Jr, Maurice Jackson, Howard Evans, and Curtis Meadows; a host of nieces; nephews; cousins; other relatives and friends. A memorial service will be Saturday, October 7, 2023, at 4 p.m. at Taylor Funeral Home with Pastor Charles Moore as the eulogist.
