Charles Eugene Baker's Obituary
Charles Eugene Baker, 87, of Chattanooga, passed away Saturday, November 18, 2023, in a local hospital. He was a member of New Vernon Grove Missionary Baptist Church where he sang in the Men’s Choir. He was employed by Chattanooga Glass Company and retired after many years of service. He was preceded in death by his devoted wife, Doris F. Baker; parents, Earven Reece Baker and Clara Jones Baker; stepsons, Daniel Eaton, Jr., Robert Dexter Eaton, Kensley Eaton, and Robert Foote; brothers, Melvin Baker and Earven Reece Baker, Jr.; sisters, Alice Spence and Charlotte Baker. Survivors include his son, Cedric Eaton; daughters, Sharon (John) Alexander, Sr. and Etta Renee Hill; 14 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; sister, Mable Holmes of Tunnel Hill, GA; sisters-in-law, Valeria Foote and Geraldine Baker; a host of nieces; nephews; cousins; other relatives and friends. Charles will lie-in-state on Monday, November 27, 2023, at 9 a.m. at Taylor Funeral Home. Graveside service will follow at 12 noon in Forest Hills Cemetery.
