Catherine M. Humphrey's Obituary
Catherine Marie Humphrey, affectionately known as “Cat-Cat” by some and “Cat” by others, departed this life on Saturday, May 2, 2026, at the tender age of 17.
Since her arrival on March 26, 2009, in Columbia, South Carolina, Cat was a bright light whose joyful spirit touched everyone around her. She was deeply loved by her family, friends, classmates, and church community, and her loss leaves a space in the hearts of those who loved her that can never be filled.
Cat was a rising senior at Red Bank High School, where she was involved in Young Life, a Christian mentoring club. She was also a member of the Youth Ministry at Pneuma Christian Center International. Prior to moving to Tennessee in 2023, Cat lived in the Dallas–Fort Worth area of Texas, where she was an active participant in the Youth Ministry at Eagle Mountain International Church and participated in ministry activities, including SKA and 14Forty. She was also an Atlas Rattlers cheerleader.
Cat loved acting, cheerleading, and finding ways to bring joy to others. She had a playful personality and was known for grabbing your unattended phone and filling it with random photos and videos that would have you laughing later. She loved being the center of attention, not for recognition, but because she genuinely loved making people smile and laugh.
Those who knew Cat described her as cheerful, funny, loving, and truly special. She was a joyful blessing to so many- always smiling and bringing warmth and laughter wherever she went. Her beautiful smile, bright energy, kind heart, and sweet spirit made people feel better simply by being around her. Though her life was far too short, the love she gave and the memories she created will last forever.
Cat was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Gerald Ferrand, her paternal aunt, Tiffany Humphrey, and her maternal great grandmother, Lubertha McLeod.
Cat was the beloved daughter of Turner Humphrey, Jr. and Gerrelda Ferrand Humphrey. She leaves to cherish her memory her siblings, Turner P. Humphrey, Jaylinn Humphrey, and Elizabeth Humphrey; grandparents, Turner Sr. and Vanessa Humphrey and Cynthia Steward Hugle; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends.
Cat was the sweetest and most beautiful soul — a darling young woman who was deeply loved by many. Her family finds comfort knowing that while she was truly an angel on earth, her light and love will continue to shine in the hearts of all who knew her.
Cat will lie-in-state on Monday, May 18, 2026, from 9:30 – 5 p.m. at Taylor Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. at Pneuma Christian Center International, 7345 Old Cleveland Pike, Chattanooga, TN 37421 with Pastor RJ McCowan as the Eulogist. The interment will be at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery in Dallas, TX.
