Catherine Cook's Obituary
On Thursday, September 4, 2025, Catherine Cook departed this earthly life to go home with her heavenly Father. Catherine Cook was born on May 12th, in Chattanooga, Tennessee, to Willie and Thelma Cook. She was affectionately known to many as “Cat” and “Mama Meow” to her grandsons. She graduated from Howard High School, where she majored in Cosmetology and earned her license. She retired from AT&T (formerly known as Bell South) after 20 years of employment. She was later employed by ACS Solutions for many years.
Cat was a member of Mount Canaan Baptist Church, where she served on the Usher Board. She loved celebrating birthdays and holidays with her family. She is preceded in death by her parents, Willie and Thelma Cook; sisters, Willie Mae Foster (Sweet Girl), Winnie Mae Chapman, Barbara Ann Cook; niece, Karen “Pinky” Parks; nephew, Anthony Fletcher.
Cherishing her memories is her beloved daughter, Tamara (Sean) McGee; son, Ternae (Veronica) Ashley; granddaughter, Ternaecia Ashley; grandsons, Tyler McGee, Taylor McGee, Marshall Ashley, and Malcolm Ashley; brothers, Tommie (Sarah) Cook, and David (Margie) Cook; a loving host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She will lie-in-state on Monday, September 29, 2025, at 9:00 a.m. at Taylor Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow at 12 noon in the chapel. Burial in Forest Hills Cemetery.
