Carolyn Clay's Obituary
Carolyn Clay, 77, of Chattanooga, passed away Monday, November 27, 2023, in a local hospital. She attended Howard High School and was previously employed as a CNA with Downtown General Hospital before she retired. Carolyn was a faithful member of East Third Street Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her mother, Dorothy Green; and husband of 22 years, Charles Clay, Sr. Survivors include sons, Redd (Alana) Hardy and Robert Clay; daughter, Tammy Clay; step-sons, Charles Clay, Jr., Tommy Clay, and Chris Clay; step-daughter, Cindy (Clay) Mitchell; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; sister, Robin Cox; aunt, Fontaine Moore; special friend, Lebron Edwards, Phyllis Moore, Mary Jo Brown, Ruth Worbington, Rebell Moore, Limateen Smith, The Ludy Family, Charles Smiley Family, John and Anita Taylor, Willie Hardy, Albert and Jackie Thurman, JoAnn Creim, Rick Clay, Freddy Moore, Brenda Moore, Linda Moore, Teresa Moore, Shepherd Church of Christ, and East Third Street Church of Christ; a host of other family and friends. Carolyn will lie-in-state on Saturday, December 9, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. at Taylor Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow at 3 p.m. in the chapel with Brother John R. Taylor, Sr. as the eulogist.
