Calvin Lee Woods Sr.'s Obituary
Calvin Lee Woods, Sr., 74, of Chattanooga, passed away Thursday, December 28, 2023, in a local hospital. He worked for Buster Brown Inc. for 29 years. He retired from Regis Corporation after 19 years. Calvin was preceded in death by his beloved father, Howard Barber; his mother, Louise Woods Barber; biological father, Calvin Kemp; beloved brother, David Orlando (Geraldine-deceased) Barber; and son, Alvin Woods. Mr. Calvin was a great husband, phenomenal father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 50 years, Mrs. Mae Lizzie Bell Woods; 4 children, Calvin (Reinza) Woods, Jr., Yohunnah (Billy) Woods-Moton, Yoshunnah (Emmanuel) Woods Obazenu, and Pashunnda Woods; 5 granddaughters, Marshae Burton, Ashlee Woods, Asharia Woods, Aja Hairston, and honorary granddaughter, Precious Ellison; 2 great-grandchildren, Ju'Monie Sheppard and Ar'Monie Woods; five brothers and six sisters, Roy (Constance) Barber, John Barber, Raymond (Sharon-deceased) Barber, Dewayne Barber, Howard Akins, Teresa (Johnny) Gillespie, Mildred (Jeffrey-deceased) Johnson, Joyce Barber, Wanda (Eric) Jefferson, Doris (Alvin) Bonner, Hattie Akins, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Calvin will lie-in-state on Saturday, January 6, 2024, at 10 a.m. at New Covenant Fellowship Church. Funeral service will follow at 12 noon with Reverend Dr Alvin Bonner as the eulogist. Burial in Lakewood Memory Gardens, East. Arrangements are by Taylor Funeral Home of Chattanooga, Inc.
