Broderick Tremice Lay, 36, of Chattanooga, passed away Friday, May 26, 2023. He was born on May 31, 1986, to Harold, Jr. and Ella Lay in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Broderick was educated in the Chattanooga Public Schools. He was loved by everyone he encountered. Broderick was a great son, brother, father, and friend. He was known for his sense of humor and cracking jokes. He was born a natural leader and loyal man. Broderick was a protector of all his loved ones and would give you the shirt off his back. He never hesitated to help others. Broderick loved football and dancing everywhere he went. He was very loving and a joyful person. Broderick is preceded in death by his grandparents, Harold, Sr. and Vinnie Lay; survivors include his children, Key’Ajia Lay, Broderick Lay, Jr., and Kalani Lay; father, Harold Lay; mother, Ella Lay; devoted sisters and brothers, Shawn Kelly, William McClendon, and LaTonya (Abimbola) Modede; godmother, Kookie Rollins; special friends, Kiara Smith, David Black Martrell Arnold, Trell Bradley, Jeremy Ellis, and Cordarry Leverett; a host of nieces; nephews; cousins; others relatives and friends. Broderick will lie-in-state on Thursday, June 8, 2023, from 1-5 p.m. at Taylor Funeral Home. Funeral service will be Friday, June 9, 2023, at 11 a.m. at Greater Emmanuel Apostolic Temple. Burial in Forest Hills Cemetery.
