Bonciel Towns' Obituary
Bonciel “Bonnie” Towns, 95, transitioned on Friday, August 4, 2023, at her residence. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and friend. An only child, Bonnie was born September 10, 1927, to the late Otis and Ruby Robinson in Decatur, Alabama. At age 3, she moved to the home of her aunt and uncle, Tony and Neppi Robinson in Chattanooga, Tennessee. She and their daughter, Geraldine attended public schools together and grew up as sisters. She married James Calvin Sims and to that union, two sons were born, James, Jr. and the late Tyronne. Bonciel later moved to New York, completed training, and pursued a career in home health care. She was dedicated to the many patients she served over the years. Upon retirement, she returned to join her relatives and friends in Chattanooga. Her greatest joy were her grandchildren. Her eyes would light up when Tanza, Okyma, and Tyrone walked into the room. Nothing elated her more than to receive hugs and kisses from them. Then great-grandchildren entered the journey and she was so happy and loved them dearly. She was affectionately called “Moms.” She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Tyrone; grandson, Jordan; and great-great-granddaughter, Kree. She slept peacefully away knowing that her son, James (Jean), granddaughters, Tanza and Okyma, Bonciel (namesake); and grandson, Tyronne; 8 great-grandchildren; and 15 great-great- grandchildren will love her forever. With grateful hearts, the family expresses profound gratitude for all telephone calls, texts, and acts of kindness and comfort. You will forever be blessed for all you have done.
