Birder Lee Rice's Obituary
Birder Lee Rice, 93, of Chattanooga, passed away Monday, October 20, 2025, in a local Assisted Living Facility. She was born on September 14, 1932, in Hillsboro, Alabama to the late Mr. Ollie Pickett Sr and Julia Ann Ervin.
Birder accepted Jesus Christ in her life at an early age and united with New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church in Chattanooga TN under the leadership of Pastor Thomas L. Jones where she served on the Mother and Usher Board of the Church for many years. Since Pastor Jones went to his heavenly home, the Pastor is now Rev Kelvert Y. Scruggs where she continued as a faithful member attending Sunday School as well until her health began to decline. Birder loved to learn about the Lord.
Birder was preceded in death by her late husband, C.L. Rice; daughters, Darlene Rice and Margaret Marie Ballard; brothers, Louis Pickett, Robert Pickett and John Ervin; sister, Sallie Jamar.
A funeral service for Birder will be held on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Taylor Funeral Home. Burial on Monday, November 10, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Forest Hills Cemetery.
