Beverly D. Vaughn's Obituary
Beverly Diann Vaughn, 71, of Chattanooga, passed away Saturday, September 16, 2023, at her residence. She was a 1970 graduate of Scottsboro High School in Scottsboro, Alabama. She retired from UTC after many years of service and was a faithful member of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church. Beverly was preceded in death by her aunts, Myrtle Vaughn and Edna Vaughn; uncle, Noah Vaughn; brothers, Grady Vaughn and Reggie Knox; sister, Bonita Knox; nephew, Aaron Norman; granddaughter, Jasmine Akins; and parents, Houston and Ruby Vaughn. Survivors include her sons, Jamaine (Natalie) Akins and JaVaughn Akins, both of Chattanooga; devoted niece, Charquet M. (Jimmy) Halbert of Mt. Juliet, TN; 8 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; sister, Gwendolyn Joyce Lewis; sisters-in-law, Kim Knox and Barbara Vaughn; a host of nieces; nephews; cousins; other relatives and friends. Beverly will lie-in-state on Saturday, September 23, 2023, at 9 a.m. at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church. Funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. at the church with Pastor Wayne L. Johnson as the eulogist. Arrangements are by Taylor Funeral Home of Chattanooga, Inc.
