Ma Betty we met in July 2017 awhile after your health issues began. The first thing I saw was that beautiful smile and felt that love and comfort my husband Thomas spoke so intimately about. I felt as if I already knew you through stories Thomas would share with me about time spent with you in Chattanooga, TN during his summers. He spoke so eloquently about your bedtime rituals before going to work each night tucking him into bed and saying, “I love you”. He also spoke of how wonderful you always smelled; he still can’t remove this from his memories as you did so night after night. I lived vicariously through stories Thomas told me, so our first encounter didn’t feel new. You will be terribly missed Ma Betty; the love, hope, kindness, and life you poured in your children shows up all the way through for all five of your loving children and grandchildren. You may not be here in flesh, believe you are within Thomas and my heart. Philippians 4:13 “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me”. Cousin Betty Jean was the rock in our family for many years. Her life personified the absolute love the bible indicates as agape(unconditional) LOVE!!
