Betty Ramsey's Obituary
Betty Jean Collins Ramsey, 91, of Chattanooga, passed away Sunday, June 19, 2022, at her residence. She was born on December 30, 1930, in Chattanooga, Tennessee. She was a graduate of Howard High School class of 1948. Betty retired from Cumberland Corporation. She was a faithful and devoted member of Mount Paran Baptist Church, a devoted teacher to her Sunday School class, The “Lucy Hill” Sunday School Class. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Willie Watt Collins, Freddie Mae Collins Love, and Willie George Love; daughters, Cheryl D. Ramsey and Gayle Ramsey Marrow; granddaughter, Sarita Ramsey Taylor; sisters, Thelma Prestwood, Bessie Hedgemon, Dorothy Smith, Earlene Hunter, Virginia Love, and Elizabeth Rutledge; brother, Earl Love. Survivors include her daughters, Madalene Ramsey and Freida (Steve) Hines; son, Wardell Ramsey, Sr.; grandchildren, Reginald (Courtney) Seay of Lawrenceville, GA, Kevin (Mayvis) Stanley, Lisa Stallings, Alisha Ramsey, Kayla Garth, Tasha Ramsey, Wardell Ramsey, Jr., Chenika Toney, Jeffery Ramsey, Marcus Ramsey, Corey Ramsey, and Sa'Riyah Ramsey, all of Chattanooga, Tennessee; 13 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Gloria Thirkill; brothers, Charles (Colleen) Love, Robert Love, and Willie Fred Love of Detroit, MI; sister-in-law, Emma Love; brother-in-law, James Smith; son-in-law, James Morrow; and a host of nieces; nephews; cousins; other relatives and friends. Pastor Steve Underwood will serve as the eulogist.
