Bettie Lee Sheffield's Obituary
Bettie Lee Sheffield, 87, of Chattanooga, departed this earthly life on Friday, August 23, 2024, in the home of her loving daughter. She was born November 13, 1936, in York, Alabama to Oliver and Ida Bell Tarvin. She was educated in the Sumter County public school system. She retired from Erlanger Hospital after 35 years. She was a faithful member of Alton Park Church of Christ. Those who preceded her in death include her husband, JB Sheffield; her daughter, Deborah D. Sheffield; granddaughter, Keish Everhart Sheffield; sisters, Roseanne Williams, Annie Townsend, Ollie Dantzler, Sallie Holden, and Ethel Lee Townsend; brothers, Johnny Tarvin, Isom Tarvin, and Eddie Tarvin. Those left to cherish her memories include daughters, Patricia A. (Kevin) White of Nasvhille, TN and Christine L. (Cornelius) Smith of Chattanooga; sons, Michael Sheffield, Christopher (Marquita) Sheffield, both of Chattanooga, and Jarvis (Andrea) Sheffield of Smyrna, TN; grandchildren, William (Charis) Sheffield of Mabane, NC, Fideka Malcom, Christopher Sheffield, Jr., both of Chattanooga, C. Anthony Smith of Murfreesboro, TN, and Taylor Sheffield of Connecticut; great-grandchildren, Dekara Malcom and Nakoreya Smith; a host of nieces; nephews; cousins; other relatives and friends. Bettie will lie-in-state on Tuesday, September 3, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Alton Park Church of Christ. Funeral service will follow at 12:00 noon with Brother Phillip Henderson as the Eulogist. Burial in Forest Hills Cemetery.
