Bernice Calhoun's Obituary
Bernice Calhoun, 89, of Chattanooga, passed away Sunday, July 21, 2024, at her residence. She was born to Charlie Calhoun and Ollie Crawford Riley on February 24, 1935, in Hurtsboro, Alabama. She attended the Chattanooga Public Schools. Bernice retired from Erlanger Medical Center and Walmart. She was preceded in death by her parents; sons, Cartress Alexander, Chuck Davis, Sr., and Anthony Calhoun. Survivors include her daughter, Theresa Davis of Chattanooga; grandchildren, Dereck (Tynika) Edwards, Sr. and Chuck Davis, Jr.; great-grandchildren, Dereck “DJ” Edwards, Jr., Loryn Edwards, Londyn Edwards, Chuck “Cree” Davis, III, Omarion Bell, and Carlayziah Benford; nieces; nephews; cousins; other relatives and friends. A special thank you to Karen Thompson, Wanda Bell, Janice Sledge, Wanda and Bron Young, Ossie Poke, Yulandra Jones, and Kimmie Green. It took a village to handle Ms. Bernice. Thank you to the village. Bernice will lie-in-state on Monday, July 29, 2024, at 9:30 a.m. at Taylor Funeral Home. There will be no public viewing. Graveside service will follow at 12:00 noon in Lakewood Memory Gardens, East with Brother John R. Taylor, Sr. giving words of comfort.
