Bernard Culberson Sr.'s Obituary
Bernard Culberson, Sr., 58, of Chattanooga, passed away Saturday, February 1, 2025, in a local hospital. He was a 1985 graduate of Howard High School. Bernard was a member of and reared in New Emmanuel Missionary Baptist Church. Later in life, he became a member of Greater Second Missionary Baptist Church with his wife. Bernard was employed by Arcade for many years. He was preceded in death by his father, Lovell Culberson, Sr.; wife, Lesia Culberson; paternal grandparents, Reverend W.M. Culberson and Mrs. Ardelia Suggs Culberson; maternal grandparents, Baxter Brown, Sr. and Mattie Mae Render Brown; brothers, Gerald Benton, Sr. and Timothy Benton; daughter, Quinesha Wright; granddaughter, TyQuiesha Wright; aunts, Elwillie Hurston, Esther Holloway, Dorothy Ellis Rucker, and Delores Domineck; uncle, Baxter Brown, Jr.; cousin, Arthur Lionel Domineck; sister-in-law, Ortestine Hughley; and brother-in-law, Ronnie Hughley. Survivors include his son, Bernard Culberson; stepson, Reginald Wright; stepdaughter, Quishanta Wright; 3 grandchildren, Keniah Watkins, Quionna Watkins, and Takyla Watkins; 2 great-grandchildren, Dakari Norwood and Skylyn Sutton; mother, Joyce Ann Culberson Fears; brother, Lovell (Shelia) Culberson, all of Chattanooga; sister, Mattie Culberson of Atlanta, GA; brothers-in-law, Howard Turner, Maurice Hughley, Tracey Hughley, and Melvin Staley; sisters-in-law, Catrenia Hughley and Pamela Nance, all of Chattanooga; nieces, D. Michelle Benton, Matisha Robinson, Shaneka Childress, and Lakeshia Edwards; nephews, Master Chief Boatswains Mate Gerald L. Benton, Jr., Lovell Culberson, III, and Jahiem Culberson; special sister-in-love, Wanda Benton; devoted cousins; other relatives; special friends, the Davenport Family, Kevin Morris, Vincent Nelson; and many other friends. Bernard will lie-in-state on Friday, February 14, 2025, from 12:30-5:00 p.m. at Taylor Funeral Home. Funeral service will be Saturday, February 15, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel with Pastor Terrence Hannah officiating, and Minister Dot Graves as the Eulogist. Burial on Monday, February 17, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. in Forest Hills Cemetery.
