Bennie Ray Tarvin's Obituary
Bennie Ray Tarvin, 73, of Chattanooga, passed away on Monday, March 10, 2025, in a local hospital. He was born on February 1, 1952, to Eddie Lee and Dora Mae Tarvin. Bennie was a proud graduate of Riverside High School, Class of 1971, and a faithful member of Sharon Pentecostal Deliverance Church of God for 32 years. He was known for his hardworking nature, kindness, generosity, and unwavering dedication to his family and purpose.
Bennie spent his life serving in the way God saw fit, blessing him with a brilliant mind and gifted hands that could fix anything—from car audio systems to HVAC systems. His fascination with CB radios allowed him to connect with people all over the world, a testament to his love for communication and community. Whenever Bennie was passionate about something, it was evident in the way he spoke about it. His presence brought joy to all who knew him, and his impact will never be forgotten. He was truly a special man.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Eddie and Dora Tarvin, and his son, Bennie Ray Tarvin, Jr. He is survived by his loving spouse, ZsaZsa Tarvin; sisters, Ollie Tarvin Isom, Annie Tarvin (Vesteree) Barnes, Jr., and Patricia Ann Tarvin; aunt, Ethel Billups; sons, Bryant Tarvin, Dan Tarvin, Calvin Tarvin, Joshua (Amari) Tarvin, Jeremiah Tarvin, Eric (Leander) White, Kevin White, Sr., Kevin Woods, Anthony Tillman, and David Riddle; daughters, Stephanie Tarvin, Denicia Tarvin, Amber Tarvin, Jordana (Adrian) Green, Jessica Rashad, Erica White, Rosa White, Terriunna Fletcher, and Jacy Davenport. Bennie was also blessed with seven grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Loretta Smith and Minister Eunice White; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and dear friends who will cherish his memory, including special friends, Ronnie (Mary) Holloway, Steve (Carol) Clark, Ronnie Samples, Tawon Billups, Sr., Mon, Big Mike, Big Boom, Mr. Robert, Sean Fields, Mutombo, Craddock, and many more.
Bennie will lie-in-state on Saturday, March 22, 2025, from 12:30-5:00 p.m. at Taylor Funeral Home. Funeral service will be Sunday, March 23, 2025, at 1 p.m. at Sharon Pentecostal Church with Elder Welford Sydnor as the Eulogist. Entombment will be Monday, March 24, 2025, at 12 noon in Lakewood Memory Gardens, South.
