Beatrice Thompson's Obituary
Beatrice “Bea” Winifred Thompson, 83, of Chattanooga, passed away Sunday, August 6, 2023, in a local hospital. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and friend. Bea was born April 25, 1940, to the late Cedric C. Walton and Emily Lucille Walton. she was a very faithful member of First Baptist Church where she was a member of the Ladies Guild, a Sunday school teacher, and a Vacation Bible School instructor. The simplest pleasures in life brought great joy to her. She loved a quiet evening with her daughter and granddaughter with a glass of sweet tea in hand while watching a good holiday movie. Bea loved spending time in the kitchen creating delicious desserts and meals that brought her whole family together. She was preceded in death by her husband of 36 years, Emanuel Thompson; and parents, Cedric C. Walton and Emily Lucille Walton. She leaves to cherish her memory a devoted daughter, Bridgette Benford; devoted granddaughters, Jacquelyn Swift and Monica Hines; devoted nephews, John Hines and Michael Hines; a host of loving nieces; nephews; cousins; other relatives and friends. Beatrice will lie-in- state on Tuesday, August 15, 2023, from 12:30-5:00 p.m. at Taylor Funeral Home. Funeral service will be Wednesday, August 16, 2023, at 12:00 noon in the chapel with Pastor Terry Ladd as the eulogist. Burial in Forest Hill Cemetery.
