Anthony A. Sims' Obituary
Anthony “Ashay” Sims, 65, formerly of Chattanooga, passed away Sunday, May 10, 2026, at his residence in Atlanta, Georgia. He was born on June 5, 1960, in Chattanooga, Tennessee to parents Inez Sims and the late William "Bill" Whitten.
Anthony attended Chattanooga “City” High School. After graduating, he moved to Atlanta, where he remained until the Lord called him home. He was a member of Word of Faith while living in Atlanta, Anthony began a career as a Transportation Specialist. He first worked for a limousine service company before dedicating 39 years of service to Checker Cab Co. Throughout his career, he earned numerous awards and recognitions for his outstanding service and professionalism as a driver in the Atlanta metropolitan area.
Anthony was the proud and devoted father of Danielle, whom he loved with all his heart. He was a kind, genuine, and fun-spirited man who cherished his family above all else. With his contagious smile and lively personality, Anthony had a special way of bringing joy and laughter to everyone around him. His presence filled every room with warmth and happiness, making him the true life of the party.
He was preceded in death by his aunts, Hattie Mae Darby, Edna Hyatt, Elizabeth Bonner and Eula Mae Thomas; his uncles, William Sims, Garner Sims, Robert Sims, Gaines Sims; his sister, Harriett Whitten; and his father, William 'Bill' Whitten.
Anthony leaves behind a loving family to cherish his memory, his daughter Danielle Sims, his mother Inez Sims, siblings Ronnie Sims, Beverly A. Trody, Orlando Sims, and Michael Goines, niece Shantara Trody, and his significant other Denise Davis and her son Maurice Hill; along with close family friend Desonya Sims as well as a host of many other cherished relatives and friends.
Anthony will lie-in-state on Thursday, May 28, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. at Taylor Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow at 12:00 noon in the Chapel with Pastor Chris Sands as the Eulogist. Burial in Highland Memorial Gardens.
