Annie Mae Patterson's Obituary
Annie Mae Patterson “Nanny” was born on September 24, 1932, in Faunsdale, Alabama to Earnest and Annie Bell Hester. She attended school at Thomas High School, where she played basketball from her 8th grade to 12th grade year. She later meet and married Henry Patterson on Christmas day in 1955. They moved to Chattanooga, Tennessee in 1956. From their union they had 6 children, two sets of twins. She was employed by Hamilton County School system for over 20 years. She was a faithful member of Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church for over 50 years. She served as head of the youth department, Usher Board, and a faithful member of the Mother’s Board. Years later she became a member of St. Matthews Primitive Baptist Church, where she served her remaining years on the Mother’s Board. To know her is to know that she did not play about her Alabama football team (Roll Tide), The Dallas Cowboys, her beautiful church hats, flowers and shopping. Her family was the apple of her eyes, and they will miss her sweet potato pies, pecan pies and brownies. She will truly be missed by her family and friends and will forever live in our hearts. She is preceded in death by her daughter, Vivian Denise Patterson; son, Lewis Patterson; parents, Annie Bell Hester and Earnest Hester; brothers, Robert Hester, Julius Hester, Clarence Hester, David Eugene Hester and Earnest Hester, Jr. She leaves behind to cherish her memories is her loving husband, Henry Patterson, Sr.; children, Henry Patterson, Jr., Louise Patterson, John (Cherlene) Patterson, Deborah (Larry) Patterson-Grimes; 12 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. She will lie-in-state on Monday, January 6, 2024, at 12:30 p.m. at Taylor Funeral Home. Funeral service will be on Tuesday, January 7, 2024, at 12 noon at Taylor Funeral Home with Pastor C.B. Sanderfer as the eulogist. Burial in Lakewood Memory Gardens, East.
