Andre Crawford Steele's Obituary
Andre Crawford Steele, 62, of Chattanooga, passed away peacefully Friday, December 4, 2020, surrounded by his loving family, in a local hospital. He was a 1976 graduate of Kirkman Technical High School and continued his education at Chattanooga State College. Andre was a 20-year employee at Komatsu Corporation. A loving and devoted servant at First Baptist Church of Hixson, he served humbly as the chairman of the Deacon Board, a Trustee, and in many other capacities. Andre was preceded in death by his parents, Priscilla (John) Thornton and Jesse Steele; sister, Dana Tuggle; loving in-laws, James and Jean Collier; special nephews, Tony, June, and Sean. Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Karin Steele; daughter, Zaneka Steele; son, Andre Collier both of Hixson; 16 grandchildren; sister, Kittie (Geoffrey) Turner of Chattanooga; brothers, Michael Crawford, Tyrone Parks, both of Chattanooga, Lee Steele of Atlanta, GA, and J.B. Steele of Chattanooga; aunts, Frances Stevenson, Gwen McClendon, Helen Pinkerton, and Sheree Wheat; uncles, James Steele, James Pinkerton, Paul (Shirley) Pinkerton, Wayne Pinkerton, and dedicated and devoted Samuel Stevenson, all of Chattanooga; brother-in-law, Chuck Jenkins of Lawrenceville, GA; sisters-in-law, Debra Blaine, Charlotte (Kim) Pinkerton, Sonja Jordan, Jennifer Jenkins, Iris Richardson, and Geraldine Steele; and a host of nieces; nephews; cousins; other relatives and friends. Elder Charles Jackson will serve as the eulogist.
