District 2 Child Welfare and the Family Services Team sends out deepest sympathy for the loss of Dr. Ellerby. We had the opportunity to work closely with Dr. Ellerby over the years with his organization, Greater New Hope. Dr. Ellerby had a strong heart and passion for serving families in need, and seemed to have a special place in his heart for Child Welfare involved families and to address disproportionality and help families create long term stability. Dr. Ellerby has inspired and reflected how each individual can change the trajectory of our communities to one of self-efficacy, compassion and resiliency. Thousands of people have been touched though his advocacy and innovation. His impact on us and the community will be long lasting and he will be truly missed.

Pastor Ellerby was the pastor at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church following Pastor Jointer. We, the Gospel Christmas choir had our rehearsals there and he was allowed to play his instrument(flute, or saxophone?) both during our rehearsal there and at the dress rehearsal at the Schnitzer and with the Oregon Symphony. I also visited is church and had prayer for him after he fell ill one Sunday afternoon; he was at True Vine at that time. He was a man of God who loved his family and the church family and we know that he is now resting in the bosom of God. I am praying for his family and loved ones to be comforted by the Holy Spirit in this time of grieving. God bless you all.
“Godly Woman”
When sadness comes, she takes time to smile. When tired, she finds time to relax and rest. When she’s angry, she takes time to cool down. She reads and always meditates the bible. Above all these, she always prays. Prayer is her priority and her shield. Lord continue to give her strength and rest, praying for the family.
MS Linda,
Know that you are in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

Rest in peace Pastor Ellerby. You will be greatly missed in the Portland community

Dr. Ellerby was one of the most kind, genuine people I have ever had the pleasure of knowing and working with. He and Linda have done so much for our communities and all with Love, Grace and Mercy.
I will miss hearing his stories about when he was young living in the country and eating squirrels on occasion lol - I'm not sure if that really happened or he was just trying to make me laugh but I loved it just the same.
He will be missed greatly for who he was and all he did for so many.
Love to all the Ellerby's, especially my dear friend Linda.
With much love,
Melanie Boyle
