Aljanette Warner's Obituary
Aljanette Price Warner, 81, of Chattanooga, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 6, 2025, at the residence of her son. She was born on March 7, 1944, in Hobson City, Alabama to the late Fred Price and Sadie Mae Roland Price. She was one of five children, lovingly surrounded by her siblings, brothers, Wallace (Anne Fay) Caver and John (Charlaine) Price, and her late sisters, JoAnn Swanson and Cora Ann Browdy.
After graduating from Howard High School, Aljanette began her lengthy and dedicated career at Parkwood NHC Health Care, where she worked from 1968 until 2010. Her commitment and excellence in her work were recognized multiple times, as she earned the Employee of the Month Award on several occasions. In 1977, she furthered her professional development by completing training as a Food Service Supervisor, a program offered at the Shands Teaching Hospital by the University of Florida. After completing the training as a Food Service Supervisor Program, she was given the position of Dietician Supervisor. Aljanette’s professional life was marked by her commitment to helping lead healthier lives. Her colleagues and the many individuals she served in the healthcare community admired her expertise, compassion, and the calm, steady leadership she brought to her role.
Aljanette was a devoted member of Stephen Temple C.P. Church on East Third Street, under the leadership of Pastor Earnest Jefferson. She served faithfully as Head of Culinary Service and was an active member of the Nurses Guild. Her dedication to her church and community remained steadfast until her illness prevented her continued service.
Aljanette was a gifted cook. Her culinary skills were legendary, known for creating meals that not only filled the stomach, but also brought people together. Her passion for cooking extended beyond her own family. She loved preparing dishes for church events and community gatherings. Her meals reflected her warm and generous spirit, and her love through food.
Aljanette was known for her enthusiasm for sports, being a loyal fan of the University of Alabama and the Dallas Cowboys. Her favorite basketball team was the Golden State Warriors.
Aljanette was preceded in death by her husband, James Otis Warner, Sr.; Sylvia Darlene Chubb and Ora Narissa Daniels; her stepson, Steven Allen; and her stepdaughter, Janice Burleson.
Cherishing her memory is her son, James O. Warner, Jr.; stepson, Henry L. (Aretha) Burleson of Houston, TX; stepdaughter, Linda (Early) McCullum, Sr. of Chattanooga; grandchildren, Jerry (Ashley) Strickland, Christy Chubb (Quinton) Jones, Doris Chubb; Marsha (Larry) Penn, Marvin Davis, all of Chattanooga, Monique (Alex Carroll) Warner of Hampton, VA, Dezmund Warner of Newport News, VA, James O. (Chelsia) Warner, III of Buford, GA, and Jordan Warner of Chattanooga; step-grandchildren, Heather Hightower of Phoenix, AZ, Michael Burleson of Toledo, OH, Henry L. Burleson, Jr. and Martell Burleson of Dayton, OH, Steven Allen of Decatur, AL, Floyd Armstrong of Detroit, MI, Brenin, Jordan, Quinton, Kendall Burleson of Houston, TX, Larry Sturdivant, Sr., Early McCullum, Jr., and Mattie McCullum, all of Chattanooga. She also leaves behind numerous great-grand-children; her ex-daughter-in-law, Kara Warner Rivers; nieces; nephews; cousins; and friends. A heartfelt thank you goes to her best friend, Virginia Butts; and special friend, Angela Wiley Thomas, for their unwavering support. Special thanks are also extended to Rev. Linda Love and Delores Crumity for the care and assistance provided to Aljanette.
Aljanette lived a life full of love, laughter, and generosity. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew her and her legacy of kindness and service will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to be a part of her life.
Aljanette will lie-in-state on Thursday, November 20, 2025, from 1-5 p.m. at Taylor Funeral Home. Funeral service will be Friday, November 21, 2025, at 9 a.m. in the Chapel with Pastor Earnest Jefferson as the Eulogist. Burial in Forest Hills Cemetery.
