Albert L. Buchanan, Sr.'s Obituary
Albert Lee Buchanan, Sr., 78, of S. Pittsburg, TN, passed away Sunday, July 23, 2023, in the Hospice Care Center. He was born on October 6, 1944 in Bridgeport, Alabama to Samuel T. Buchanan and Willie C. Nicholson. He gave his life to Christ at a very young age. Albert attended McReynolds High School and continued his education at Bailey Technical School. He married his beloved wife, Barbara Brown Buchanan on December 19, 1976, in Chattanooga, Tennessee. They walked with each other for 47 years. Albert served as a deacon at Washington Park Baptist Church, then at Mount Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church until his health prevented him from doing so. He served in the United States Army during World War II and received medals for National Defense Service, Good Conduct, and Sharpshooter. Albert also served in the United States Navy. He worked as a heavy equipment mechanic in the military and for Tennessee Valley Authority. Albert was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel T. Buchanan and Willie C. Nicholson; 3 brothers, Sam Buchanan, Larry Buchanan, and Daniel Buchanan; 2 sisters, Betty Buchanan and Barbara Hudson; sister-in-law, Marlene Buchanan; and brother-in-law, A.W. Springs. Survivors include his wife, Barbara Brown Buchanan; son, Albert Lee Buchanan, Jr. of South Pittsburg; daughters, Lashica Buchanan of Chattanooga and Aqulia (Brandon) Daniel of Madison, AL; grandchildren, Anya Je’Lyia Buchanan, Oakley Uri Daniel, Beau Buchanan Daniel, and Jessie Rose Daniel; sisters, Dorothy Springs of Acworth, GA and Linda (Raymond) Cobb of Stevenson, AL; brother-in-law, Raymond Hudson of South Pittsburg; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Tucker of Hollywood, AL and Bonita Collins of Chattanooga; a host of nieces; nephews; cousins; other relatives and friends. Albert will lie-in-state on Saturday, July 29, 2023, from 1-5 p.m. at Taylor Funeral Home. Funeral service will be Sunday, July 30, 2023, at 2 p.m. (CST) at Mount Bethlehem Baptist Church in South Pittsburg, TN with Pastor Lamar Jenkins as the eulgist. Burial on Monday, July 31, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. in Chattanooga National Cemetery.
