Aisha Shaune’ Washington, 43, formerly of Chattanooga, passed away Thursday, September 2, 2021, in a Lanham, Maryland hospital. Aisha graduated from Chattanooga Arts and Science High School and the University of Tennessee Knoxvill Read Obituary
Though I never met Aisha personally she was part of our Wildwood Zoom class and I will always remember her. Aisha was always so full of energy and I loved the comments she would often make. We will all miss Aisha. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.

It was really heartbreaking to hear of Aisha's death. Sending condolences to your family.
I worked with Aisha at the union for UMD staff, AFSCME Local 1072. She was always a joy to speak with, and her dedication to improving working conditions for all workers on campus was inspiring. We handed out K-N95 masks to union members together, discussed organizing her coworkers, and protested the University of Maryland's low pay and unsafe pandemic working conditions.
I remember sending "Aisha" themed songs back and forth with her, including Stevie Wonder's "Isn't she lovely," which she told me she was named after. Whenever I heard the John Coltrane song "Aisha" I think of her. A beautiful beautiful song.

My heart truly goes out this this family. I didn't know Aisha well or long, but it honestly feels like I did. We both were at a union protest together and while packing up I noticed her "accent" I said "that is a familiar sounding southern accent that I hear". From there we ended up talking about my short time I lived in Knoxville and her times in the state of Tennessee, her home state. She ended up dropping me back off at the library where my office is. We had the most cordial conversation on the way there. She actually dropped a "hint" about her health but I didn't probe or inquire further. I know that she was full of life and spirit and that part of her will live on forever both here and in the "better place". One day we will meet again and I'll recognize that accent for a second time. - D. Knight
Regardless of her health challenges, Aisha lived life to the fullest. She was a kind and loving Soror who will be truly missed. My deepest sympathy to her family and friends. I met Aisha through her work with the Academy for Excellence in Local Government. Even through the limited time I interacted with her I completely feel the pain and loss of those who knew her for much longer. The fact is, whether you knew her for 40+ years or 4 minutes, you could see and feel the beauty of her soul shining through. I am heartbroken by this news and my sincerest condolences and prayers go out to her family and friends.
It was an honor to know Aisha. She was one of the most beautiful souls I have ever encountered. She exuded confidence, creativity, and boldness that I admired. She taught me do much in a short time but I will carry my memories for eternity. Our talks, our laughs and you zipping thru UMD campus in that red Honda Accord with your Delta tag plate are priceless. So until we meet again my friend. Love 💕 you to the moon 🌙 and back.

Aisha extended the best parts of herself to those around her. I truly am grateful to have spent time, laughs, and thought provoking conversations with her while at SPP. May she continue to live on in each and every one of us and remind each other of how to be towards one another. My deepest condolences to her family.
