Fredrick C. Smith

July 16, 1947 - June 27, 2020

Fredrick Charles Smith, 72, of Chattanooga, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, June 27, 2020, surrounded by his wife. He was a 1965 graduate of Howard High School. He continued his education at Alabama A&M University and received his Bachelor’s degree. He earned his Master’s degree in Administration from Trevecca Nazarene University. Fred had a passion to educate the youth. He retired after 36 years of working in education. Fred was a longtime member of the Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church. He later became a member of Saint Stephen Catholic Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Johnnie and Gladys Smith; brothers, Anthony Smith and Dewayne Smith. Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Carolyn Smith; sons, Roger Smith and Tracy Watkins; five sisters-in-law; one brother-in-law; five nieces; three great-nephews; three godchildren; and a host of other loving relatives and friends.
