    Maggie Bailey

    April 27, 1927 - March 20, 2022

    Miss Maggie M. Bailey, Matriarch of Five Generations, 94, passed away Sunday, March 20, 2022, at her residence. She was born on April 27, 1927, to the late James T. and Catherine Bailey in Giles County, TN. She was a resident of Chattanooga for more than seven decades. She was a very faithful member of Miracle Missionary Baptist Church, where she served on the Mother’s Board. She had a vibrant career and retired from Memorial Hospital with more than 30 years of dedicated service. One of Miss Bailey's greatest joys included taking care of her family, friends, and anyone else that needed her. She was referred to as the “Mother Hen” of the family. She was preceded in death by her parents; 13 siblings, Rev Robert E. Bailey, Willie, Leroy, Eugene, Joe, McMcKinley, J.C., Eddie, Jimmy, Glen, and Ralph; sisters, Mrs. Jeanette B. King and Mrs. Katie Ruth Gary; grandchildren, Anita Edwards and Avery Washington; great-granddaughter, Brittany Hollingsworth; and sisters-in-law, Mrs. Mattie, Pearl, Alice and Catherine Bailey. She leaves to cherish her memory daughters, Patricia Hudson and Mary C. Washington, siblings, Miss Mary Bailey, Miss Martha Harris and Will R. Bailey (Carol) all of Chattanooga, TN; grandsons, Antonio Washington (Nicole) of Nashville, TN and Frederick Ramseur of Chattanooga, TN; granddaughters, Charlotte King and Constance Gaines (Jeffrey); great-grandsons, Brandon Davis, Derek Terry and Jeffery Gaines Jr; six great-granddaughters, Chesney Smith, Megan McCrobey (Adrian), TiShai Shadden (Michael), Raquel Terry, Lauryn and Layla Washington; 13 great-great grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Mrs. Marie Bailey, Mrs. Jean McIntyre, scores of nieces and nephews, friends from over the years, and especially the Miracle Missionary Baptist Church family. Pastor Randy Jacks will serve as the eulogist.
