Lottie Jean Baldwin Davis, 86, of Chattanooga, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 17, 2020 in a local hospital due to health complications. She was born on January 4, 1934 to the late Willie Jake and Pearly LeShure Baldwin, in Flatwood, Alabama. Lottie was raised in Flatwood and attended Marengo County Public Schools-Kirksey place. Upon accepting Christ Ms. Davis relocated to Tennessee and became a faithful and devoted member of St. Philip Lutheran Church. She also became a devoted worker of 20 years and retiree of Unum company within the Tennessee Valley. From Wheeler Homes to Hickory Street and Highland Park Lottie extended her home and loving nature to many within the community in which she resided. Many referred to her as simply “Mom” as she never met a stranger and regularly extend her comfort to all. Even though she did not have an abundance in material items, she shared what she possessed with those in need. The family would regularly receive questions such as “ What’s for dinner ? or What did Ms. Lottie cook, today “ as if they were a part of her family. Lottie was an eternally kind woman with a heart made of gold, whose infectious laugh could fill up a room and who possessed a smile and a gentle manner that brimmed with assurance and caring. Lottie Jean Baldwin Davis was preceded in death by her late son, Dan Davis Jr.; and six siblings, Willie Jake Baldwin Jr. “Uncle Butler”, Abner Baldwin “Uncle Honey”, Julia Baldwin “Aunt Tulu”, Annie Mae Greene, Pearly Mae Boykins, and Abbot Baldwin “Uncle Bull”. Survivors her sons, Paul James (Karen) Davis, Abner Lee Davis, Charles Edward (Mary) Davis, and Michael Lebron Malone, all of Chattanooga; and four daughters, Barbara Jean (Tremayne) McCraw, Christine Little, Veronica (Sam) Miller of Silsbee, TX, and Carolyn Colette (Shade) Ball of Chattanooga; thirteen grandchildren, Monica M Russell, Antonio D. Little, Andre Foster, Jumel Russell, Natasha D. Reed, Terrance D. Davis, Tenisha N. Davis, Bryan Davis, Eddy D. Caldwell, Chenika Johnson, Vincent Malone, Cornelius M. Ball, and LaShonda M. Ball; twenty-seven great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Sadie Mae Baldwin of Flomaton, AL; one brother, Andrew Baldwin “Uncle Shorty” of Birmingham, AL; two devoted nephews, Willie Baldwin of Pollard, AL and Jerry R. Davis of Chattanooga; one faithful niece, Loretta Crawford of Detroit, MI (each one called consistently to check on her); a host of other relatives and friends. Pastor Meredith Jackson will be the eulogist.
