    James Louis Stubbs

    June 22, 1948 - April 9, 2022

    James Louis Stubbs, 73, of Chattanooga, passed away Saturday, April 9, 2022, in a local hospital. He graduated from George Washington Carver High School in Tupelo, Mississippi. He continued his education at Coahoma Community College and UTC. He received his Bachelor’s degree. James was a member of New Covenant Fellowship Church. He worked with Smallwood Center, Future Education Services and WDOD as a DJ early in life. He was the founder and Executive Director of Comprehensive Family Institute, American Family Institute, New Creations Ministry, Inc., and Witherspoon and Associates. He was also a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. James was the Executive Director for American Family Institute (Foster Care/Social Services) and retired after many years of service. After retirement, he mentored with a program called Boys 2 Men. James was preceded in death by his father, Flent Stubbs; mother, Lucille Witherspoon; brother, Bobby L. (Karen) Stubbs; brother-in-law, John Betts; niece, April Miller; and father-in-law, James Cooper. Survivors include his wife of 26 years, Andriene Cooper Stubbs; son, James Franklin Stubbs of Calverton, NY; daughters, Tiffany M. Stubbs and Bianca Stubbs, both of Atlanta, GA; mother of children, Peggy Jo Stubbs of Atlanta; 1 god-grandchild, Tylah Herndon of Atlanta; mother-in-law, Jacqueline Cooper of Chattanooga; sisters, Gladys Betts and Pearlie Traylor, both of Saltillo; brothers-in-law, Greglin Cooper, Samuel Blackmon, both of Chattanooga, and George Traylor of Saltillo, MS; sisters-in-law, Sharon Taylor, Valerie Blackmon, and GeVonna Cooper, all of Chattanooga; uncle, Charlie Agnew, Jr. of Saltillo; aunt, Mable Witherspoon of Chicago Heights, IL; several nieces; devoted nephew, Vic Taylor, Jr.; devoted brother-in-law, Greglin Coooper; other nephews and nieces; cousins; and friends.
