Annie Lee Wright, 88, of Chattanooga, went softly in the arms of our Lord on Sunday, January 10, 2021 in NHC Chattanooga. She was born in Camp Hill, Alabama and the daughter of the late Charlie and Vera Menniefield. Anna (as she was affectionally known) was a graduate of Alexander City Colored High School, Alexander City, Alabama. She was a long-time resident of Chattanooga. She was trained and licensed in one of the first classes at Erlanger Hospital as a Licensed Practical Nurse. She worked at Erlanger Hospital until accepting a Nursing position at Moccasin Bend Psychiatric Hospital. She provided care for her patients until she was promoted Patient Care Coordinator. In this position she monitored and review Medicare patient care. After more than 30 years in the health care field, she retired. Anna was an active and faithful member of Union Grove Baptist Church for more than 20 years and only leaving to following her husband to establish Rising Star Baptist Church in Chattanooga. As First Lady, she was involved in multiple aspect of the Church including community work, providing weekly garage sales, donating clothing to families in need. Following her husband’s death, she joined New City Fellowship Church, Chattanooga, using her many years of Christian and serving in the Church experiences she, volunteered for the Widows Harvest Ministry and the 55+ Fellowship group. She received training with the Chattanooga Police department, for Neighborhood Watch program. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. John T. Wright Sr., two sons, John Herman Wright, and John T. Wright, Jr., one daughter Valerie; one brother, Calvin Menniefield; four sister,s Bessie Ruth Marbury, Doris Green, Shirley Coleman, and Myrtis Stamps; and special pet, Poochie.
